Hopefully, you'll still have the option to turn NC off (and not just 0/Aware) for the QC45 within the app at least.To fix - go to device manager as above, dropdown 'Sound, video and game controllers', right click on 'Bose QC35 II Hands-Free' and click 'Disable device'. Yeah I think the QC35's may have some serious issues with the AUX connection. In my case there is no audio at all with the aux cable; I have tried several PCs and my mobile but nothing works. Add to that a bluetooth driver installation issue I can't use them at all with my PC. If like me the majority of your use is going to be with your laptop ...
